Christmas Tree Pendants

Sometimes it is hard to try and find Christmas gifts for some people.Lucky me, my family is not too picky,so I can give tree pendants this year.

The two above pictures are in progress,I carve my small greenware pieces with a needle in a 'gel' of glaze glue.With the glue it is also possible to 'etch' area's of liquid casting clay.I ám happy with the etching results.

The broken parts on the back of the mouses are stick to the glaze of the piece .It is fun to work with different colors clay on the same piece.

My Cat Hates You

My cat gives mouses the middle finger.Especial mouses that are made from clay that is colored black with ceramic pigment(the details are painted with white slip).

My cat is back from a brief trip to Paris.It inspired me to do cat themes.For example;Why do cats like fish?,Or what are you looking for in the fish pond? etc..On an already glazed surface I like to give the cats a watercolor effect,then I add relief paste.

The Chicken Battery

The chickens are glazed.When I do them next I think I added ceramic batteries.Here a design for more egg production;a chicken battery with only two chickens.The battery idea is fun,maybe it works also with cars.

Texture

After firing the rooster biscuit ,a dark underglaze wash gives accent to the textures.

In case of the horse I put also after glazing onglaze white.On those white areas I want to add later 'happy colors' like;red,yellow,green etc.

Colored Clays

Yesterday and today I worked on a set of roosters,here the sketches.The goldfish,which was done with colored orange clay, is fired.( I added about 15% orange pigment to white slip)

Christmas Mood

It was Whitsin tide last weekend, but for me it was a bit christmas .I want to have a crib ready with christmas, so best is to start early with it.I also made a church model;the notre dame.
