Postcards
A simple and relative cheap way to promot art, is to make postcards from the paintings. Here a few examples of my latest paintings.Like always I have to refine the details some more.

Painting with the New Programs
Still working at the computer paintings.I plan now to make only 1 print from a computer painting on a sheet of aluminium,so the painting will keep unique. Here a few concepts done with the programs Paintshop Pro X4 , Painter 12 ,and the Wacom Intuos 5 tablet.I have to refine the paintings some more. With Painter 12 it is possible to add (virtual)reliefs to images,so the program is also great for designing clay relief tiles.

Ceramic Collages in Progress
I like to use thin ceramic models to make collage work.Part of the relative small and thin work is ceramic and another part (the background )of the collage is a large print. The print is a computer painting ,many of the images in the print are retouched ceramics. For the moment I work with flat prints, but I plan to invert the print into a sort of semi relief-I have to investigate a technique with blue foam to do that further. Some examples of the prints.

Breaking News

Beside the miniatures I have made now for my tiles a crackle slip which I can wet again and model(with a sheet of transparent plastic between the modeltool and the tile). To my cat tile are added small silkscreen made black images.I plan a city serie with my cat as the tourist and for each town characteristic buildings.Rob

Ceramic Miniature Sculpture

It is fun to add mini clay sculptures to my already fired tile. I have made sofar a buste of Chopin, coins, stamps, buildings and cars. The pieces need not much material use, and can made in a mini studio.I sculp the miniatures on plaster with a piece of paper and a sheet of plastic between the casting clay and the model tool. Also I use small brushes and casting clay to raise and paint the model.Robzondag 18 december 2011

My First Grey Hair

I was a little suffering from psychological depression lately, and when looking in the mirrow I saw even a first grey hair!I don't like pills and the best way to halt grey hair(and keep haircoloring away) is to tell myself everyday a joke. Here two versions of a clown;"the friends will be friends'' clown is ready and the ''My first grey hair''clown stills need a firing.Rob

Creative with Text
Often you see celebs interviewed before a wall with brands names behind.I wonder if I could use this concept with texts in combination with my 'pets'.Here an example.I made the tile on commission in a maximum serie of 100 pieces, textures are with each piece different and are handpainted clayslip.Click on the image, the resolution of the larger image is 1000*750 pixels.Rob

Getting Roots in the Traffic Jam

I ám now able to realise thin clay threads in my pendants. They can be used to make roots for toadstools;the mycelium.I wonder if the same can be done with objects (cars or buildings)Maybe it looks stupid;a traffic jam with cars that developping roots or a windmill with roots.Another variant for the clay threads are spider webs.Rob

Handshaking with a Cloud Figure

Sometimes there are very remarkable cloud figures in the sky,and I wonder what they have to tell. One of my clay figurine had the opportunity to shake hands with a cloud(the upper left tile).
I make the small pieces with a slip applicator. It is a very easy way to make figures on a piece of plaster.Once dry the plaster loose the figures and they can transfered to a tile or vase. With a brush and slip it is also possible to paint on plaster.

Dutch Theme
Boats, windmills, water and beaches at a small scale. The pendants are inspired by old Dutch classic paintings.I paint them,in relief, with colored fat casting slip.Fun to do,and some good practice for the eastern eggs painting later this year.Rob
