The Butterfly

The butterfly is an older tile made a few years ago ;it is fired several times and the colors and reliefpaste is applied in layers and seperate firings.

Using a Dremel

Delft Blue is one of my favourite colors,the one I have is very rich of pigment but it is hard to see before firing and I use easy to much.So I had to use a dremel to 'sand' a lot of color and unwanted textures away afterwards.

Pen and ceramic inkt are my favorites when drawing lines.Sometimes lines and contrast can really change a piece.A few pictures to make this clear.Also a closeup of the texture.

What should we eat today?

The inside of an egg can hold images.In this case I put small turtles in the egg.It is miniature ,and I use a looking glass and a fine needle to sculpt the small creatures.

An interesting Tile Experiment

I poured some casting clay in a mold, and in the wet clay I lay the leatherhard image of a boat(and a smoke trail).On the wet clay surrounding the boat I put some ceramic glaze glue.Then I added with the slipapplicator liquid clay to the surface;And very strange textures appeared which looks a bit like crystals.

Ok I have to work this further out but I ám really amazed by the result.

Here a seahorse carriage with texture.I 'plugged' the piece in my latest digital work which is called 'underwater traffic'.

Light and Dark

My pieces came out a little bleach after firing.To accent the textures and to provide more contrast I decide to do an extra wash with dark ceramic inkt.Here they are with the inkt but I have to fire the pieces again.

The Textures last after Firing

Textures done with the slipapplicator and reliefpaste on a biscuit piece and then fired.I was curious if the textures would last after firing but everything goes ok.
